The occurrence and availability of biogenic resources is a crucial basis for assessing the opportunities and risks of existing and potential bioenergy use. The Working Group Resources therefore develops, implements and operates resource monitoring systems for more than 100 raw materials from numerous sectors. With its expertise in remote sensing and geoinformatics, the Working Group produces analyses of the spatial distribution of biogenic resources, site analyses and estimates of energy potential. By analysing remote sensing data, the availability of biogenic residues and waste materials can be determined even in areas with little data, for example in regions of the global south. The results are often made freely available in online tools with the support of the data laboratory. Strategies will also be developed to capture and interpret the motivation of different stakeholders and shareholders. Based on the results of the research and consultancy projects, recommendations are made on which commodities play an important role in which regions and which stakeholder groups can be involved in further optimisation and mobilisation strategies. Some of the working group's methods are briefly presented in this section.

In addition to the products we have developed and the methods we use, the following pages present the software packages we mainly work with in the Resource Working Group.
