Methods

Various measurement and evaluation methods are applied and further developed in the working group, including:

• Emission measurement methods at biogas plants (e.g. Recommendations for reliable methane emission rate quantification at biogas plants, DBFZ Report 33).
• Annual operator surveys of biogas plants, biowaste plants and biomethane plants (e.g. DBFZ Report 30, DBFZ Report 50)
• Monitoring on biomass plants in Germany  
• Estimation of substrate use for biogas production and the resulting fermentation residue volumes
• Development of the use of manure for electricity production from biogas as an estimate based on the annual operator surveys and electricity production from biogas
• Balancing of heat supply and use at biogas plants (e.g. DBFZ Report 32)
• Evaluation of EEG data (TDSO data) and allocation by type of bioenergy source
• Estimation of the number of biogas production plants and satellite sites in Germany (e.g. Statistical Yearbook on Agriculture (Federal Ministry of Agriculture))
