Field of work
Alberto Meola studied Environmental Engineering at the University of Cagliari for his bachelor, and at the Technical University of Munich for his master. He wrote his master’s thesis at the Imperial College London on the topic “Intermittent micro-aeration in anaerobic digestion: Determination of optimal oxygen quantity for maximum methane yield through Machine Learning”. Since 2021 he has been working as a research associate (PhD student) on modeling and optimization of industrial biogas plants at the Deutsches Biomasseforschungszentrum (DBFZ). His research focuses on various Artificial Intelligence techniques (especially Deep Learning and Metaheuristic Methods) for simulating and predicting characterisitic process variables in the anaerobic digestion process. Mr. Meola is part of the junior research group on Simulation, monitoring and control of anaerobic processes at the DBFZ.
