Further development of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Quota

At the end of 2020, the national implementation of RED II in the transport sector moved onto the agenda of the German government's legislative schedule.

Following departmental negotiations, the Federal Cabinet adopted a proposal for the further development of the GHG Reduction Quota law. It regulates the level of GHG reduction, possible options for fulfilment and their eligibility. As this law is quite complex in its effect, a comprehensive background paper including model calculations was published.
