Biomass in the EU taxonomy for sustainable investments

As part of the EU Green Deal, a taxonomy is intended to support investors in their search for sustainable investment opportunities and avoid greenwashing in the financial sector.

Together with the DBFZ, the German Renewable Energy Research Association (FVEE) has analysed the requirements proposed by a delegated regulation for biomass. It has found that they deviate significantly from the scientific and political consensus. A reclassification of bioenergy-related activities in the taxonomy and stronger interconnection with the European Renewable Energy Directive are recommended.
